The John Champe Strings Department is hosting its end-of-the-year banquet on June 5th to celebrate a successful year. The Department, which contains both the guitar and the orchestra programs, celebrated all the seniors together in one event. The banquet’s theme this year was comfy in pajamas, and students showed up with stuffed animals, blankets, and onesies. The students also brought in food, desserts, and drinks to share with their peers. The banquet started off with introductions to each senior, where the department director included some of their ‘iconic’ sayings and moments, and finished it off with personalized gifts. Seniors recieved a gift bag with candy and a mini-figurine of a stick figure playing the violin as a keepsake. After senior instructions, the strings department played a game of Senior Jepoardy, where questions were based on each of the seniors they previosuly introduced. Students broke out into seven teams and faced against each other. The banquet ended with some warm words and goodbyes for all the seniors, wishing them all the best for their future endavors, that hopefully continue to hold music!
“The school year culminates with our much-anticipated annual Strings Banquet, a delightful evening where our string students gathers to share a delicious potluck feast and enjoy each other’s company,” strings director Eun Bit Seo said. “It’s a cherished tradition where we honor and celebrate the dedication and exceptional talent of our students, presenting special awards to those who truly went above and beyond throughout the year. The highlight of the evening is always our lively Senior Jeopardy game!”
