Saturday, May 31st, marked John Champe High School DECA’s end-of-year banquet for the 2024-25 school year. After a successful year, members had the chance to celebrate together after an amazing year of accomplishments and engaging experiences.
This year marks the largest year for the John Champe DECA chapter, with a total of over 400 members.
Members gathered in the cafeteria at 11:30 am, with a tropical theme, to celebrate summer. The event began with a year-in-review video created by Josiah Powell while family and friends had lunch together. Then speeches from John Champe 2024-25 DECA chapter officers, beginning with President Annika Villareal, and their passing on to the new officers, followed.
Competitors and officers were recognized for their contributions and successes this year, as well as the extraordinary chapter officers Shannon Brown and Patrick Lucas.
Senior Harlee Chapman reflected on the event, saying, “The DECA banquet was a great experience, bringing everyone together. I was able to enjoy making more memories with my friend group from ICDC. We had good food and got our senior cords!”
Chapman added, “DECA overall has given me so many great connections, helped me grow my networking skills and public speaking, and has made me overall a better person. I’ll forever be grateful for the memories Champe DECA gave me.”
Finally, after enjoying lunch together, celebrating memories and accomplishments, Mrs. Brown and Mr. Lucas thanked John Champe DECA for an amazing year, said farewell to seniors, marking the end of John Champe DECA’s 2024-2025 school year.
