John Champe High School will be administering SOLs during the week of May 18th to May 23rd. With the exception of the Seniors, all of the other grades will be taking their respective SOLs during this week. Champe will run on a different schedule for both Tuesday, May 20th and Wednesday, May 21st, specifically allocating time for students to take their SOLs. On Tuesday May 20th, while freshmen take their SOLs, Juniors will be reviewing for their final reading SOL on wednesday. During this review session, all juniors will be studying topics found on the SOL, such as poetry or figurative language. Meanwhile, the seniors will spend that time at a senior picnic. If students finish their SOL faster than the given time, then they will be given a ticket to move to another classroom. They can spend the rest of the allocated time as an extra study hall. With this week especially important to juniors who officially completed all their Virginia-mandated testing, its clear to say that everyone’s happy this week is over.
“I finished the SOL pretty quickly,” junior Pri Patel said. “Which meant I got extra time to get my other assignments completed.”
