Champe administration has come up with an Attendance BuyBack Program to address concerns regarding the attendance of many students. Students with an alarming amount of absences had received an email giving them the opportunity to “regain” some of the days they had previously missed. Regardless of whether the absences are excused or unexcused, the students are given the opportunity to come for an hour before school and/or an hour after school to attend a buyback session. For every three hours a student attends, one day of absences will be removed from their attendance record. Sessions are being held everyday (excluding Fridays) starting May 19th, 2025 up until June 11th, 2025.
“When I first received the email, I was alarmed and worried that there was an issue with my attendance records,” junior Harsha Cherukuri said. “After properly reading it, I understood what the buyback program was and I think it is a great idea and opportunity offered to us.”
