Any senior planning to decorate their graduation cap for the graduation ceremony that will be held at the Eagle Bank Arena on June 12th, 2025, must adhere to recent guidelines that were published due to having many issues in the past with what content seniors were putting on their graduation caps. Students must submit their design idea to Schoology no later than May 23, to get approval for their decoration, seniors will then have to wait for approval to start decorating their caps. Decorations that highlight a students further education plan, monograms, graduation year, patriotic or international country of origin and sports decorations are permitted, and decorations like hashtags, quotes, 3D images, lights, political statements, hidden messages and controversial decorations are not permitted. Staff members will be checking graduation caps at the ceremony, and students who fail to comply with the guidelines will have their cap confiscated and may be excluded from the graduation ceremony.
“I think the rules about the graduation caps are stupid,” senior Ally Schwarz said. “Quotes are a big part of my life and something I want to include on my grad cap, I have a thing of quotes that I look at everyday, I get why they have established the rules but I feel like they can be a bit more relaxed.”
