This year, Earth Day was celebrated on Tuesday, Apr. 22nd. People all over the world celebrated the theme: “Our Power, Our Planet,” which emphasized the need for a transition towards renewable energy in order to save our world. Events took place in over 190 countries, with millions of people participating in cleanups, rallies, and even campaigning. Environmental leaders made sure to talk about the importance of possibly shifting from fossil fuels to solar, wind, and other sustainable forms of energy. As concerns about climate change continue to grow, Earth Day this year was even more impactful and what was even recognized by many students at Champe. Lots of students decided to post a picture embracing nature which served as a nice reminder that action and help is needed to protect the future of our planet.
“I think earth day is a very important day to celebrate,” junior Harsha Cherukuri said. “We need to make sure we protect our earth.”
