March Madness is the NCAA’s Division I mens basketball tournament, that follows a single elimination format meaning that once a team loses their tournament run is done. The first round for the 2025 tournament began on Mar. 20th, followed by the second round on Mar. 22nd, the Sweet 16 on Mar. 27th, the Elite Eight on Mar. 29, the Final Four on Apr. 5th and finally the NCAA championship game was held on Apr. 7th. The national championship game was a tight battle against two number one seeds, the Houston Cougars and the Florida Gators, the Cougars led the Gators at the half but the Gators came back to win the tournament with a final score of 65-63. With a few seconds on the clock, Houston did have a chance to take it to overtime or secure themselves the win; but instead of shooting the ball, the Cougars had costly turnover that gave Florida possession of the ball, and the NCAA championship win.
“I hadn’t really watched March Madness in the past because I’m not the biggest basketball fan,” Florida sports fan Hadley Davis said. “My brother is a freshman at Florida now, so I watched bits and pieces of the game but it was cool to see his school win this year.”
