In the week of Mar. 24th to Mar. 28th, John Champe’s Chapter of DECA is currently holding officer elections. With around 30+ candidates for 8 different positions, this holds as one of the largest elections happening at Champe this year. Some of these positions include the ever-so-common ones, such a, President and Vice President. However, some also include DECA-specific positions such a, VP Marketing Candidates, which is a subsection in DECA. The chapter is also holding elections for the positionsofr representatives for each class. For students in DECA, this means that their designated class representative would be their first point of contact. The election process ends with final speeches for the presidential candidates at the end of the week. The Chapter’s sponsors will act as the panel of judges for the speeches and make the final decisions themselves, instead of applying a vote of popularity. Results are expected to come out a week later, altering one of the biggest DECA chapters in Loudoun County.
“I’m running for DECA president because this club means a lot to me,” junior Arushi Ragavendra said. “The people I have met and the opportunities that I have gotten are endless which is why I am so grateful for this club and their sponsors.”
