April is the month for Autism awareness and acceptance. Champe encourages students to wear red to spread awareness about this holiday. The symbol for autism is a fingerprint to highlight that every person with autism has their own unique and special characteristics and traits. As well as emphasizing that despite our differences, we are all connected to each other.
“Autism awareness month is important because people that are different can do the same thing as everyone else,” sophomore George Hilliard said. “I’m going to wear red to show awareness about unfairness against people with autism.”
