The Animals First Alliance club, led by president Ara Ganesh, co-vice president Sindhu Vempuluru and co-vice president Soli Kebreab, has made it their mission to bring attention to the suffrage of animals. During weekly meetings, the groups meet together to discuss fundraising and volunteer opportunities for the team. They spread their mission during events like the ren fair and informational stands during lunch. Additionally, the group frequently volunteers at animal shelters and animal support groups to show their commitment. For the past few years they’ve been able to raise awareness and money for their cause.
The group is generously sponsored by English teacher Brandie DeRusha, who is able to provide all of the resources needed for successful meetings. Due to her help, the AFA was able to host many fundraising events, such as selling friendship bracelets and snacks, in support of the mission. All members work hard to spread the word of animal mistreatment, and contribute to make a difference. “I want to bring attention to the rising issues animals are facing as a result of our own actions as humans,” Vempuluru said. “Working with the group has been so fun.”
