John Champe’s Tennis teams are currently holding their tryouts during the week of Feb. 24th to the 27th. Students looking to try out are asked to attend three out of the five days, to show the coaches your commitment to the team. In recent years, the number for students trying out for tennis has increased substantially. Just this year alone around 35+ students showed up to the interest meetings and tryouts. John Champe holds different tryout locations for their Girls and Boys’ tennis teams as well. The Girls’ Tennis team is looking at the need to make cuts this year, compared to the previous years. Decisions are to come out on Feb. 27th, where the members will be ranked from 1 through 12. The top six in both the Girls’ and Boys’ teams will receive more playing time, as well.
“I’ve played on the team since my freshman year, but I knew I would have to play at my best this year, since there are so many new players this year,” junior Durga Ghanta said. “Many of which I recruited myself, so I was happy to see them at tryouts, and to see that I also secured my spot on the team!”
