John Champe’s National Honors Society holds monthly meetings throughout the year, and this month’s February Meeting was held on Friday, Feb. 21st, in the auditorium at 8:45 am. During this month’s meeting, NHS officers went over the expectations for new members as this was only the second meeting with new members inducted, and then they also went over their upcoming plans for the rest of the spring. NHS is holding a book drive right now, and they are planning to organize a supply drive to donate to a women’s shelter. For their book drive, members wrote personalized messages inside the books they will be donating as an in-service activity, allowing them to gain volunteer hours through the club.
“The personalized notes in the book are a nice touch to our book donations,” NHS sponsor Ashley Allen said. “This makes it so when we drop them off at a library or a shelter, people can get a personalized note about what they’re going to read and what to look forward to!”
