The athletic season for spring sports is about to begin with tryouts right around the corner, and some teams have looked at raising some money to get access to more resources throughout the season. Champe baseball hosted a fundraiser at Chipotle, and the softball team is planning to also host a fundraising night at the local Panera Bread. Those who go get food from the restaurant show the employee the flyer advertising the fundraiser or they put their receipt in a container for the records, so a portion of the total amount of money made that day will get sent to the team.
There are many teams and clubs at Champe who have been hosting these fundraising nights for years, and they have helped raise high profits. Junior Ruby Price, an athlete on the softball team, shares more about what she thinks the money raised will be used for, “The team usually doesn’t have much funding and every season the entire team has to fundraise,” Price said. “I think this will give us a lot more money and we can have good snacks at games or more equipment for practice.”
Local restaurants and companies helping out high school sports teams and clubs is a great way for community to become connected and a fun way to raise some money.
