With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, couples and friends have been celebrating their Valentine’s or Galentines Day in their own ways. Valentine’s Day, originally meant to commemorate the death and burial of St. Valentine has come around to spreading the love he left behind in our everyday lives. The holiday is usually celebrated by giving out flowers to a loved one and making special plans to celebrate with them. However, Valentine’s Day isn’t always about romantic relationships, in fact, a lot of the time friends celebrate it together, calling it Galentines Day. Galentines Day, usually set a day before the 14th, is a day to celebrate the friendships a person has in their lives by spending quality time with them. Even students as young as elementary schools celebrate Valentine’s Day by handing out little valentines, short and heartfelt notes, to their peers on the 14th. For this Valentine’s Day, couples across Champe have already asked their significant other to be their Valentine, and have already created plans for their special day. While Valentine’s Day could look different for everyone, there is no doubt that it still stands to spread its love in every type of relationship.
“For right now, I’ll pick her up first and then give her my gift,” junior Akil Puppali said. “Then we’re going to go out to eat dinner and basically just hang out afterward.”
