NBA teams’ Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers have reached a deal where Luka Dončić has been traded from the Mavericks to the Lakers in a deal on Feb. 1, 2025. The Lakers traded Anthony Davis for this deal. The trade combines LeBron James and Dončić on the same team, as the Lakers push for a championship. Most of the public are confused by the deal, wondering why Dallas would move one of its elite scorers in the game. The Mavericks were speculated to have made the deal due to business reasons which have not been disclosed to the public. Teams throughout the NBA have all begun to ask questions about why this trade took place, because it places the Lakers at an advantage. While Dončić has not talked about the trade, his moving to Los Angeles sent a shock across the NBA.
“I think Anthony Davis would be better than Luka for the Lakers,” junior Noah Habtamu said. “Luka’s play-style wouldn’t fit within the Lakers as good as Anthony Davis.”
Dončić is set to play his first game with the Lakers on February 8, 2025.
