This year Champe SCA (Student Counsil Association) decided to plan the first ever winter formal, which also may be the last. The theme for this year’s winter formal is A Knight on Broadway, complete with the new addition of VIP sections that students can reserve during the dance. In addition to the dance, there is also a pep rally and a spirit week with themes connected to the Broadway dance theme. The dance was very highly promoted, as SCA has worked tirelessy to provide a new and fun student experience. It was announced that there were food stands, a DJ, and a 360 Photo Booth that students can enjoy for the entirety of the night. All of these features, though, are no longer available as the dance has been cancelled. SCA was forced to cancel the dance because the ticket selling quota was not met. Speculations about why students didn’t buy tickets have been spread over the past week such as some winter sports, like swim, having sports that day. In addition, it has been known that student spirit has gone down over the years with many students not dressing up for themes or attending school functions.
“I think that spirit weeks and pep rallies can be fun for everyone if most of the school makes an effort to participate,” sophomore Aleeza Awan said. “SCA puts in a lot of work for these events in order to create fun experiences for all students.”
