On Jan. 20, 2025, Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 47th president of the United States, and JD Vance was sworn in as the vice president. The inauguration marked his return to office since 2021, and due to recent winter weather and frigid temperatures in the nations capital, the inauguration was held indoors at the Capitol Rotunda. With familiar faces in the crowd, and some of America’s most wealthy elites behind him, Trump outlined his goals and plans for the nation to have its “golden age”. Americans will now watch as Trump steps into his new presidency, tackling issues like immigration, the economy, and the justice system.
“The inauguration overall was really shocking to me, I was keeping up mostly through social media and was surprised to see all the different comments,” senior Akshara Kakani said. “Overall I think Trump is really starting off with a band which might not be a good thing like changing citizenship rules, and pulling us out of the World Health Organization which harms a lot of underprivileged nations.”
