On Jan. 12th, the Commanders faced the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Florida with a big task at hand. For years, the Commanders had been seen as a relatively weak team that nobody expected to go far into the season, but that changed this season with the addition of new players, coaches, and owners. The Commanders won their way to a playoff game, and took it to the last minute with a tie game, with a field goal earning them the win at the end. Before this, they had not won a playoff game since 2005.
Many residents of the DMV and Commanders fans in general are very excited to see the team make it this far. Blake Reavill, a Commanders fans, shares their thoughts on the game and the season as a whole, “I think the game was great and it was some tough competition,” Reavill said. “They definitely exceeded most people’s expectations of them for this season by making it this far.”
The Commanders play the Detroit Lions on Saturday for the second playoff game.
