On Dec 16, 2024, JCHS had its audition interest meeting for its fall production of The Little Mermaid. Students arrived at the black box after school and sat through a presentation on the audition process that will be happening this year. Along with saying a monologue from the script, students are expected to sing an excerpt from one of the songs, do a range test, and a dance audition. Director Nichole Shepherd made an appearance and ran the audition meeting after her maternity leave. Kira Simmons, the director for the spring production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, performed a demonstration of a good audition and bad audition to show students what is expected to happen during the process.
“I liked seeing my friends and learning more information about the auditions,” sophomore Charlie Martin said. “It was really nice seeing all of the people interested in auditioning.”
