As the college football regular season comes to a close, fans all have something to look forward to: The new 12 team playoff format. Fans will get the chance to watch unique matchups that wouldn’t happen in years past. Underdog teams such as Boise State and SMU will get a chance to run the table and shock the college football world with the help of their die-hard fans. Many students at John Champe enjoy the new format as it allows for more football and because of the higher chance for upsets.
“I like it, it expands the opportunity for not as popular teams,” senior Tyler Ellis said. “It is the first time in NCAA history that it is being tried out and there will be historic games. It helps not only the sport with aspects like Viewership but it also helps fans watch their favorite teams for a longer period of time.”
Ellis and other Champe students and faculty are all gearing up for the first matchup between Notre Dame and Indiana on Friday, Dec. 20th at 8 p.m.
