John Champe’s Orchestra is holding its winter concert on Tuesday, Dec. 2nd. This concert has been a difficult one to prepare for due to their teacher being on leave. However, all three levels of the orchestra-Intermediate, Advanced, and Artist have all come together to practice without their conductor. They worked with John Champe’s band and choir directors, and the band director will be conducting their concert. As an annual tradition of the Artist Orchestra, they will be playing the piece Sleigh Ride, where the audience will participate by clapping when the conductor cues them in. The Artist Orchestra will also be playing Peer Gynt and First Noel. With the concert starting at 7 PM, all three orchestras will have their rehearsal at around 5 PM on the same day. This concert officially begins its performance season, which will last until March/April with their final concert, as their spring concert.
“Preparing for this concert was hard without our teacher,” junior Sarah Abdulkareem said. “But, we tried really hard to work together to show the audience a good performance.”
