Thanksgiving is a perfect time of year to give thanks for all the wonderful things people are thankful for like their family, shelter, food, etc. A popular Thanksgiving tradition is to have a big meal with your family. Lots of extended families come from around the country for Thanksgiving and would like to spend time with just their family without any other guests. However, John Champe High School students want to include their family and other people they are thankful for like their friends.
“I like doing these traditions because I consider my friends as family,” sophomore Megan Araujo said. “I think we should celebrate these big holidays with them as well.”
To some students, our friends are part of our family, and would like to celebrate these special holidays with them as well. So students put together a Friendsgiving which is a spin on Thanksgiving but only with their friends. Each person brings something for the table like mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing, etc. Students feel that the holidays should be with the people they love, their families, and their friends.
