Students and staff had to evacuate their classrooms after a fire emergency at the Academies of Loudoun, a devastating fire broke out on Tuesday afternoon, approximately at 1.pm., caused by a spark during a welding class. The fire resulted in almost $1 million in damages to the academy. It took the Loudoun County’s fire department approximately an hour to extinguish the flames. During the incident, one firefighter and a staff member sustained minor injuries and were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment. Fortunately, all students and staff were able to quickly evacuate to the parking lot, where they awaited further instructions from officials.
“This was totally not something I was expecting at all to happen at the academies,” junior Bovli Tawfik said. “Because of the sudden shock, I remember forgetting my phone in the class after the school speakers immediately told us to evacuate the school.”
