Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from Sept. 15 through Aug. 15 to highlight hispanic culture and experiences of members of the Latinx community. John Champe is recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month by inviting members from the Spanish National Honor Society and Hispanic Student Association (HSA) to speak on the morning announcements, sharing some facts about Spanish countries and culture. The HSA also has a table set up at the entrance of the school to celebrate, and some teachers throughout the school have recognized the month by showcasing hispanic literature, art, or simply writing it on their boards.
The HSA loves to celebrate the month and share Hispanic culture with the school and other communities. HSA President Mia Sanchez talks about why celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month is important to her, “Celebrating is important to me because it honors the rich cultural contributions of the Hispanic community, including my own heritage. It is also a great time to teach others about the hispanic culture, while bringing unity to the community.”
John Champe will continue to celebrate and recognize hispanic culture throughout the month.
