Next week marks the start of homecoming week which includes many events and activities for students to participate in. Homecoming spirit week starts Monday and goes from September 23-27 which has themes for each day for students to dress up and show their school spirit. Monday is “Bare Necessities” which is a tacky tourist dress up day. This includes bringing cameras, maps, tacky shirts, fanny packs, hats, sunglasses, and more. Students can also wear shirts to represent their country on this day. On Tuesday the theme is “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” which features dressing up as your favorite toy. Some ideas include Barbie, GI Joe, American Girl Doll, Mr. Potato, Minions, Ninja Turtles, Pokemon, stuffed animals, and more. Wednesday’s theme is “Wish Upon A Star” also titled Future Plans where students can dress up in their college gear, as a doctor, lawyer, judge, princess, president, chef, firefighter, and more. Thursday is Subtheme day where each student’s class has a different theme, this is also “Disney Day.” The freshman theme is enchanted, the sophomores theme is welcome to the jungle, the junior theme is animation station, and the senior’s theme is sea to shining sea. To end the spirit week, Friday is “Colors of the Wind” where each class has a different Champe color to dress in. The freshmen are the color white, the sophomores are the color silver, the juniors are the color navy, and the seniors and staff are all three Champe colors. During the school day on Friday the homecoming pep rally will be held in the main gym which features many games and competitions between classes. The evening of Friday, the homecoming football game will be held at Champe against Heritage. On Saturday September 28, the homecoming dance will be held at John Champe from 8pm-11pm for students to come and participate in activities, party on the dance floor, and eat food in the cafeteria.
“SCA works hard every year to plan and execute homecoming spirit week the best they can in order for students to have a fun time,” teacher Lashundra Carter said. “I hope that all the students try their best to dress up for all the themes and win spirit points for their class.”
