The Huawei Mate XT showing its cutting edge technology and sleek layers.
Announced September 20th this year, the Huawei Mate XT is set to be the world’s first ever tri-folding smartphone. When unfolded, the Mate XT is just 30 mm short in length of an iPad Pro and when folded, is slightly wider than the iPhone 16 Pro. Along with its sleek design, it plans to compete with the largest smartphone competitors like Apple and Samsung with its brand new cutting edge technology. It runs on Huawei’s latest Kirin processor and includes a powerful quad-camera setup. The phone’s HarmonyOS is designed to be the best fit for its foldable screen, making it easier to multitask.
This new device could be an exciting addition for tech enthusiasts at Champe. It new innovation can cause interest in fields such as technology and engineering for students here. It’ll even enhance the learning and teaching opportunities for the students and teachers by merging a tablet and phone in one. However, due to its crazy price sitting at $2,800 as compared to the iPhone 16’s base cost of $899, it makes it more difficult to compare the values of the two products.
“I personally think that the new triple-folding Huawei phone is a cool concept, but literally no one asked for it,” junior Humza Burney said. “Samsung introduced the first modern folding phone in 2019 called the Galaxy Z Fold and has since then created another one called the Galaxy Z Flip and other companies have followed suit since, but these phones are still barely in the market at all compared to the new Samsung and Apple phones.”
With this bold move, Huawei aims to shake things up and set new trends in the phone industry. However, with the views on the phone from the students at Champe, Huawei has huge expectations to live up to if they intend to beat the market from its competitors.
