John Champe’s Avalon Theatre Company is selling tickets for their showing of SIX: Teen Edition. The musical will only have three showings in total, taking place on May 31st and June 1st. This full-length musical and dramatic comedy is an adaptation of Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss’ SIX, which has been modified for performance by teen actors for family audiences. The play dives into the identities of King Henry’s six wives (all but one who met unfortunate fates) and puts them in a 21st-century retelling of their lives.
“Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived,” Avalon Theatre Company stated in a description of the play. “From Tudor Queens to Pop Icons, the SIX wives of Henry VIII take the mic to remix five hundred years of historical heartbreak into an Exuberant Celebration of 21st-century girl power!”
There will be an evening show at 7 PM on both showing dates and one afternoon showing at 2 PM on Saturday, June 1st. Tickets are $5 for Champe students and $10 for standard seating. Preferred seating is available for $15, giving you a seat closer to the action on-stage. The play runs for just over an hour, with concessions being available before the musical. SIX: Teen Edition will be the last play the Avalon Theatre Company runs before the end of the school year.
