China and Taiwan have experienced increased tensions due to Taiwan’s labelling themselves as an independent country. China hasn’t been pleased with this and has constantly threatened the island with Military intervention. Now, Chinese ships are at the coast of Taiwan, these ships were sent on the 24th of May. This action by China is showing the increasingly real possibility of a war between the two countries. The United States have stepped in and defended Taiwan which has turned this Pacific tension into a Global conflict.
“The tensions between the two countries have been going on for a long time,” sophomore Jon Jesuraj said. “It’s becoming more and more important for people everywhere because of the U.S. getting involved and the possibility of a war between the two global powerhouses.”
It is becoming more pressing for the leaders of these and other countries to resolve the matter before it escalates any more and a global conflict erupts.
