On Wednesday, June 5th, incoming freshmen from Mercer Middle School are going to visit John Champe for a tour of the school and to get familiar with their future school for the next four years of their standard education. It is important to introduce incoming students in a way that is positive and welcoming. Starting high school can be daunting and it is up to us as fellow students to make them feel comfortable and safe in their learning environment. Many students signed up to give these eighth graders a tour of the school to familiarize them with the premises and inform them about classes.
“I signed up to help give a tour to the eighth graders because I wanted to help them feel ready and that it is nothing to be afraid of,” senior Shrina Thakkar said. “I remember what it is to be an incoming student here for the first time so I want to be as supportive as I can be.”
