This Saturday, June 1st, 2024, a few members of the varsity Track and Field team will be competing in their final State meet of the season. The meet will be held at Liberty university in Lynchburg, Virginia, with seven Champe athletes competing in a variety of races. The seven Champe athletes who will be participating in states are Lana Sakhel, Anna Hardiman, Cazz Veney, Michael Clark, David Kayembe, Aidan Nelson, and Jada Jones. Our track and field team will also have a relay team competing in the state competition where they will run the 4×800 meter relay. These athletes have put in a lot of hard work and excelled in their district and regional meets to get to states, and they hope all their hard work will pay off.
“I’ve been training really hard the past couple of days in preparation for the state meet,” sophomore Anna Hardiman said. “I’ve also been trying to stay hydrated since its getting hotter out.”
“I qualified for states at one of our home meets in the pouring rain,” Hardiman said. “I will be competing in the 800m and I hope to do well at states.”
