Following the announcement of a change in leadership here at Champe, as Mr. Tyson had accepted a new role as Executive Principal for Loudoun County High Schools, Dr. Noah Rogers was appointed as Interim Principal.
Before he retired, Dr. Rogers had worked as a high school principal for many schools in Virginia, and he served at three schools in the Loudoun county school district during his time in administration.
“During my retirement I decided I wanted to do something,” Rogers said. “The county was in need of substitute principals and I was given an opportunity to work as an interim principal so I decided to come here.”
Although retired, Dr. Rogers certainly has the experience to lead Champe for the remainder of the 2023-24 school year. Dr. Rogers attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and then went on to get a masters degree in administration and receive certification to become a licensed teacher.
“I started out teaching social studies then went on to be an assistant principal for five years before becoming a principal,” Rogers said. “This is my 44th year serving in public education, and I’ve been working in schools since 1980 and I still love it.”
In addition to a surplus of experience, Dr. Rogers has worked in the public education system, he has many accolades and has a lot of positive accreditation from previous schools he has worked at.
“During my career I’ve won teacher of the year,” Rogers said. “I would say that my previous students and faculty would tell you that I care about people and genuinely want students to succeed.”
Similarly to Mr. Tyson, Dr. Rogers truly cares for students and the administration, and he hopes to continue the impact that Mr. Tyson left at Champe for the remainder of his time here.
“I don’t want to change anything at Champe,” Rogers said. “My plan is to continue the rich tradition that is taking place and see if I can provide support to continue this tradition.”
Dr. Rogers has thoroughly enjoyed his time here at Champe, and while he hasn’t been here very long, he recognizes the welcoming and engaging environment of our school, along with the support he’s received since his arrival.
“Since I’ve been here I’ve been greeted warmly from the students, staff, and administration and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here,” Rogers said. “I love the students’ spirit, they come up to me and introduce themselves and that makes coming to work wonderful.”
While establishing new connections with the student body, Dr. Rogers has also noticed the relationship between students and teacher, and how he sees this as such a driving factor towards the quality environment we have here at Champe.
“The one thing that has really stood out to me during my time here is how the teachers work well with students,” Rogers said. “There seems to be a really professional relationship between the teachers and students that works very well.”
Overall Dr. Rogers plans to continue to lead and manage our school to the best of his ability for the remainder of this school year, he definitely has the experience and character to carry on the long lasting legacy Mr. Tyson left.
“I listen and I can lead and follow when I need to follow,” Rogers said. “I want you all to succeed and will do my best to ensure that happens.”
