The Biden Administration signed the TikTok Bill, which can ban the operation of TikTok in the United States, on Wednesday April 25, 2024. Congress passed the bill earlier this week as apart of a wide-ranging foreign aid package. It was approved by the House and Senate and passed into law by President Biden. The bill states that ByteDance (the parent company of TikTok) is forced to find a new owner within 270 days or be banned from the United States entirely.
“I think that the TikTok ban is a little too serious for what is it,” freshmen Rachel Gahun said. “I think that other precautions can be made before they make the ban official.”
TikTok is currently trying to take this bill to the Supreme Court to get it overturned.
