On Tuesday April 16, 2024, the varsity track team here at Champe participated in a big track meet. The meet was held here at Champe, and six schools in total participated in the meet. The team competed against Briar Woods high school, Lightridge high school, Potomac Falls high school, Tuscarora high school, and Woodgrove high school. This meet was especially important, as it was an opportunity for the athletes to qualify for districts and states, and many of the runners on the team here at Champe ended up qualifying for states as well as districts.
“We’ve spent the past month doing harder workouts in order to build a better foundation,” junior Haasini Suravarapu said. “However, the week before this week we have kept the workouts a little easier to prevent injury.”
“As a team we did really well,” Suravarapu said. “Our 100 relay teams did really well and the girls triple jump did really good as well.”
