Champe’s Avalon Theatre Company is selling tickets for their showing of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, which is playing from April 25th to April 27th. There will be four total showings, with evening showings being available on all three showing days at 7:00 PM. There will be one afternoon show on Saturday, April 27th at 2 PM. Tickets range from $5 for Champe students to $15 for preferred seating. The play runs for just about two hours, with an intermission in the middle. Tickets are selling quickly as the Theatre Company, which is run by Theatre Director Mrs. Shepherd, puts up posters for the play around the building.
However, this tale of Cinderella goes beyond the story that you may know from Disney movies or other renditions. In this production, the Prince isn’t eager to marry after meeting Cinderella and instead wants to make an impact on the world. Just like Cinderella, he is also kept caged by his Uncle who rules as regent and keeps matters away from the Prince.
“Ella, with the help of many unlikely people along the way, strives to not only be with the Prince, but to show him the truth of what his people need. Will true love help change the world? We can’t wait to find out!” the Avalon Theatre Company said in a description of the play. “JCHS Theatre believes that we build knowledge, passion and teamwork through perseverance, creativity and joy! We’re glad that you are here! Enjoy the show!”
