The John Champe Varsity Softball team recently had two preseason scrimmages in preparation for the start of the spring season. They had two scrimmages, winning both, the first team they played was Osbourn Park at home, winning 4-2 and the second team they played was Patriot, which was an away game where they won 6-1. The team has been putting in a lot of work to have a successful season, and their first official game is March 13, 2024. They’ll be kicking off their season with an away game against Potomac Falls, looking to have an even more successful season than they did last year.
“I think preseason went really well and we have a good amount of girls come out,” freshman Lily Perez said. “We did a lot of fielding to prepare for the season and our coach observed what positions all the girls can play.”
“I’m excited for the season because it’s my first high school season,” Perez said. “We have a really strong group of girls this season and I think it will be a really good one and we will be able to go far.”
