On February 27, 2024, a few members from the Track & Field team attended the state meet at Liberty University. The team had a few runners attend the state meet, after excelling at the district meet from weeks past. The team participated in relays along with individual events, and although the relays didn’t go as planned, members of the team excelled in their individual events. Michael Clark broke Champes 55 meter hurdle record, and qualified for the New Balance Nationals, and sophomore Anna Hardiman got first in the 1000 meter event, also earning a spot at the New Balance Nationals. Michael and Anna will attend nationals in Boston in early March, and although any other members from the team were unable to qualify for nationals, they had an enjoyable time in the states.
“We didn’t do much preparation but we worked on our hand offs and warmed up prior to the meet,” junior Lana Sakhel said. “I loved being with the team for dinner, hanging out at the hotel and cheering each other on.”
