The John Champe swim team had nine swimmers make it to the State Championship on Friday, February 16th held in Richmond, Virginia. They had five girls and four boys qualify for the state championship meet and had some school records broken.
“The old 50 Freestyle record was 21.88 seconds,” Varsity Swimmer Cole Wergley said. “I wasn’t trying to or even knew that I broke the record, but I’m proud of myself for breaking it.”
“I felt like all of my hard work this season and in the offseason had really paid off practicing almost everyday for an hour,” Wergley said. “I’m going to keep working hard this season and hope my hard work shows in the upcoming season.”
