The John Champe Powderbuff game was hosted on February 14th, Valentines Day, at the end of the school day. Students were given the opportunity to watch the juniors and seniors verse in a game of volleyball. This game was a take on powderpuff which takes place during the fall season. Powderpuff is played between junior and senior girls in a game of football. Powderbuff gives boys a chance to have their own game because there is no boys volleyball team at Champe. Many of the John Champe volleyball players were there to assist and help the inexperienced players during the game. The game was evenly matched at the start with the juniors in the lead. Later on, the seniors were able to pull a lead in the end and win the game.
“This is the first year that the SCA has hosted this event and I hope they continue to do this in the next years,” junior Cyrus Estal said. “The girls got to participate in powderpuff so many of the guys were ecstatic to hear that the boys get a chance to do something similar.” SCA has been hosting lots of new events in order to get our school involved and bring up school spirit
“The game got lots of people hype and people were relieved to have a break from school on Valentines day,” junior Aiden Gayles said. “Many of the players didn’t have experience playing volleyball beforehand, so it was a fun way to learn.” Some of these events give students the opportunity to learn new things while also having fun.
