SCA and class council campaigns have recently begun, decorating the halls with colorful posters and creative slogans. It’s evident that this year, more people have decided to participate and run for a leadership position within the school. However, everyone that is campaigning could have different motivations and aspirations. Some campaign to spice up their college applications, some campaign to gain experience, and others merely want to improve the high school experience for themselves and their peers. Either way, sophomore class council president Layan Al-Masri advises campaigners to not be afraid to put themselves out there and let people know who they are and what they represent. Al-Masri is running for SCA Liaison this year and aims to reach a wider audience by incorporating different types of media such as posters and social media posts to reach a wider audience. Despite her hard work as the sophomore class council president, she makes sure that her responsibilities don’t overwhelm her school work and personal life by creating schedules and staying organized.
