This years swim team has made major improvements since the previous year. This is due to many factors including the district change and the new additions to this years team. In the 2022-2023 swim season, there were not enough to make cuts. This season, there was a surplus of swimmers at tryouts, some new additions being club swimmers. Last season, there was seven swimmers to make it to regionals and one relay team. A big accomplishment for the swim team this season is that all relay teams, boys and girls, have made regional cut.
“We have had major improvements with our team this year,” Swim Coach Jeremiah Johnson said. “We have had many swimmers make regionals and with districts coming up I have no doubt more people will make the cuts.” There is lots of hope for the swim team at districts because there are many swimmers that are ranked at the top and a big chance that they ae bale to win the whole meet.
“I think that moving districts opened up so many more opportunities for our team, Swimmer Maya Thaivalappil said. “In previous years the team were almost twice our size, but now that we verse teams near our size we had better chances at winning our meets.” With fair chances for the swim team, they are undefeated for the 2023-2024 season.
