John Champe High School was recently closed for the past week due to the effect and spread of snowstorms across America. Throughout the last week of 1/15 – 19, students started their week by enjoying a day off on Monday to honor the national holiday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Many students of Loudoun County dubbed their days off as “Winter Break Part Two,” and communicated through Instagram and Tik Tok making memes involving Martin Luther, Elsa, and Frozone as a big trio. According to Virginia weather reports, the series of snowfalls had initially started on Tuesday at approximately three in the morning. The amount of snow around Aldie and the Northern Virginia area was recorded to be at least three to five inches and continued until Friday with a temporary pause on Thursday where LCPS issued only a single day of school.
“The snow days gave me a lot of free time to spend with my family and friends while gaming.” Sophomore Malik Alkhayyat said, “I only thought that Tuesday would be the only day off, but I was surprised that Wednesday and Friday were off too.”
