As the school year goes on more and more college decisions roll out. On January 23rd, James Madison University released all their decision letters to students who applied early decision. The applicant pool was very large this year with 40,232 undergraduate applicants, a 7% increase from 2023 and a 25% increase from 2022. According to the JMU website almost half the applicants this year were out-of-state students, while the other half of in-state students consisted of Northern Virginia, Virginia Beach, and Richmond residents. JMU is increasing in popularity for out-of-state students due to successful seasons in multiple of their sports and a more affordable out-of-state tuition price. While the 2024 acceptance rate has remained unreleased there is no doubt about the competitiveness surrounding acceptance to JMU.
“I’m super excited to finally know where I’ll be going next year,” senior Tala Barghouty said, “JMU was my top school and I’m very happy to have gotten in.”
JMU’s regular admission decision comes out mid to late March potentially bringing a whole other round of Champe acceptances.
