The second quarter of the 2023-2024 school year for Loudoun County Public Schools ended last week on January 19th. This marks the end of the first semester of the school year which is very significant, especially for seniors who have to send in their midterm grades to colleges. The first semester can impact college admissions negatively or positively. With the rise of “senioritis” a term commonly used to articulate the lack of motivation seniors have during their last school year, seniors have been losing the will to put their all in their grades.
“As a senior, I am glad the first semester is over as it allows me to breathe a little,” senior Andrea Arulanand said. “I worked hard in my high school career and now it feels like it can finally pay off and I am closer to reaching the finish line.”
