The start of winter break remains one of the most looked forward-to vacations for students and teachers here at John Champe. Although the new year has arrived for all countries and people worldwide, millions of students across America are saddened about the end of winter break. Earlier in 2023, it was announced that schools across Loudoun County would have a newly arranged schedule through 2024 that would only include 10 days for winter break. In response, many students and staff officials were confused by the decision since it was much shorter than 2022’s winter schedule of 14 days. Although the recent winter break was short for students, young individuals at Champe attempt to remain positive and reflect on the time spent with friends and families over the holiday season. 2024 sets a reminder for these students to embrace new challenges and adventures as they dive into the new school year.
“I felt refreshed after the break ended, but I was also sad because of how fast and short it was this year. I’m glad that I was able to make good memories in person with my family and online with my friends over the holiday season,” junior Tamer Elshowihy said.
