The winter season begins for Champe’s wrestling team with three away games, starting at Sherando High School. Their first home game was on December 13, 2023, and it was one that shocked every person in the audience.
This match against Heritage High School started out rough, making it seem like Champe would lose by many points. Even up until the middle of the match, Heritage had double the points Champe had, causing the audience to lose faith in a victory, still being entertained by the rigor of both teams being exceptionally determined to win. Towards the end of the match, Champe started to accumulate wins one by one, reaching a tie. This tie left the audience stunned at the comeback that was happening, creating hope for Champe Knights, and eventually winning by a great amount.
“It was a really shocking match, it started out with us losing by far, for more than half of the match,” sophomore match attendee Muna Ali said, “but then, it was like a switch flipped; we came to a tie really quickly, as if we were never losing, and we won in the end by so many points
