The placements for DLC at the DECA club have just been declared. DLC is a district-level competition where DECA members get the opportunity to compete in a business cluster selected by the administrators. These clusters consist of different areas in a given company’s industry. For example, financing, marketing, hospitality and tourism, business operations, and a lot more. This competition is especially important to DECA students at Champe because those who place a position in DLC get the chance to compete in the state level competition (SLC). These results will show the caliber of the students at DECA and give the hard-working students at the club a suitable challenge. After SLC is the International Career Development Conference (ICDC), which is the ultimate goal of all students at DECA, since that is the highest level of competition available in the club. The placements for DLC are the stepping stones for DECA students to prove themselves to the representatives at SLC.
“I was a runner, so I got to escort people to go to their competition,” said Sowrish Ravigopal, sophomore at John Champe High School. “I felt that the competition was fair. I would say that everyone had a chance to show what they were capable of, whether it be knowledge about their respective event or their roleplaying skill. If they are lacking in one area, they can still place with their skill in the other area.”
