As we enter the winter season further, the celebration of the world-renowned holiday, Christmas, rolls around. However, not everyone celebrates this holiday, as it can be seen in different perspectives; some celebrate it with religious association, while some celebrate it as a casualty. The counselors of Champe had the idea to start the tradition of Elf on the Shelf at school, but with its own twist of inclusivity to those who do not celebrate Christmas; Tyson on The Bison. This new tradition would imitate the original by having the people, in this case: the students, search for the symbol, whether it be an Elf or a laminated character of Principal Tyson, and finding it would reward that individual.
“I was on Facebook one day, and everybody was talking about the tradition of Elf on the Shelf,” the mind behind Tyson on a Bison, Counselor John Long, said. “Another day, I was walking down the hallway and it reoccurred to me that Mr. Tyson graduated from Howard, which has the mascot of a Bison, and Tyson rhymes with Bison. Now, this Elf on The Shelf inspired tradition is Tyson on the Bison at Champe.”
