This past Friday, November 3rd, the Varsity Football game district game was held against Freedom High School. After an outstanding win of 50-7, John Champe was declared the 2023 champion for district 4. After this bi-week there will be the semi-regional game against Loudoun Valley High School or Broad Run High School, depending on who wins their district game. They are currently first in the Catoctin region with an overall season score of 9-1 and currently reigning over 4 other schools. For the 2023 season they have had a 9 game winning streak, only losing their first game.
“We have definitely improved since last season, dropping down a district helped us but the chemistry and the coaching staff played a huge part in bringing the team together,” Varsity Football Player Michael Clark stated. “We came across slight injuries for some players throughout the season but we managed to readjust our game plan for the following games.” Although there were minor setbacks throughout the season, they managed to overcome all challenges which led to a great season.
Despite the first loss, the season went exactly how we wanted it to, 9-1 was a great goal for us and we are very pleased with completing this goal,” Clark stated. “We’re not sure how the district game is going to go because we don’t know which team we are playing yet, but we have beat both teams in the past which makes us hopeful for the upcoming game,”
