On October 19th, 2023, an addition to Northstar Boulevard, on Route 50, was opened to the public. This addition is a little over one mile long according to Google Maps, connecting Tall Cedars Parkway to the pre-existing Northstar Boulevard. This addition has been officially underway since February according to Final project to complete Northstar Boulevard breaks ground by Coy Ferrel. The cones were removed from the intersection at Northstar and Tall Cedars and the traffic lights were in action by the time John Champe’s school day ended last Thursday. As was anticipated, Northstar caused unusual traffic through the intersection. However, students and staff who live just North of Champe were impressed by the new proximity between their homes and school.
Residents in Stone Ridge and surrounding areas have been counting on this construction for an extended period of time.“I have known about the road’s future opening for two years,” sophomore Victoria Wong said. “The road conveniences our route to school as we no longer have to drive down the unpaved dirt road to get to John Champe.”
