At the Knights vs. Wolverines Pink Out football game on Friday, October 13th, both the players and the audience are in for an exciting halftime show. Elementary and middle school students will execute an energetic, Barbie-themed dance to raise money for breast cancer awareness. In order to make that night a success, the JCHS Varsity dance team is hosting a Dance for a Cure Dance Clinic where kids between Kindergarten and 8th Grade can learn the routine. The cost for each participant covers pizza, a t-shirt, and admission to the game. All donation proceeds are given to the Loudoun Breast Health Network to support those who have been affected by breast cancer. This cause is also very important to the dance team’s advisor.
“I was in a sorority where our philanthropy was breast cancer awareness and education,” dance team advisor Lauren Reed said. “It’s very important to me to raise funds for that.” Reed has been supporting this cause since she was in college so she greatly appreciates the dance team’s initiative.
